At St. Ignatius Convent Hr. Sec. School, Palayamkottai, environmental consciousness is not just a program — it’s a way of life. Our National Green Corps (NGC) Eco Club plays a vital role in creating awareness about environmental protection, sustainability, and responsible living among students.
The school’s NGC unit, comprising 40 dedicated student members, actively participates in diverse eco-friendly activities that nurture a spirit of stewardship toward nature.
Empowering Young Environmentalists
The National Green Corps, launched by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, aims to promote eco-awareness and sustainable development through schools across the country.
In alignment with this vision, our NGC students engage in:
- Biodiversity Conservation – protecting local flora and fauna through awareness drives and plantation programs.
- Water Conservation – promoting rainwater harvesting and responsible water use.
- Energy Conservation – encouraging the use of renewable energy and reducing wastage.
- Waste Management – practicing segregation, composting, and recycling of biodegradable materials.
- Resource Management – spreading awareness on sustainable lifestyle and land-use planning.

Our NGC cadets proudly serve as the Green Brigade of the school — protecting natural resources from misuse and promoting their conservation.They play a prominent role during national celebrations and observances, participating with great enthusiasm in their full NGC uniform.
